Pro bono – access to justice, supporting the community
At Resolve Conflict we understand that professional time is expensive and sometimes while legal advice and assistance is desperately needed in family law matters it is out of reach financially.
As part of our commitment to support Victorian families in the Family Law environment, each year we undertake 1 major case for a deserving client on a pro bono basis. That is to say, we work for free.
What that means is our chosen client gets top quality legal advice and service and pays only the out of pocket costs. We charge nothing for our professional time up to a ceiling of $35,000 per case, or alternatively, we will undertake several smaller matters to a combined ceiling of $35,000 in professional fees in any calendar year.
Most recent pro bono caseOur most recent case involved a young woman who was visiting Australia from the UK with her young son, for a working holiday, wanting him to be able to spend time in Australia with his Dad before he reached school age. After her arrival here, the child’s father prevented her from going home arguing that previously both had agreed to raise their son in Australia.
The young woman concerned was of limited financial resources and means, being in Australia for a working holiday, and was unable to return home to her family and life overseas due to a court order. She was not eligible for legal aid.
Resolve Conflict Family Lawyers represented her through a hotly contested 6 day court case at the conclusion of which the judge gave her permission to return home taking her young son with her.
Get on BoardHelp us to choose our next deserving recipient, who is in desperate need of legal advice and support in a family law matter but who without our assistance would need to represent themselves in court.

As part of this initiative, we are delighted to announce that we have been able to negotiate with several senior family law barristers who do court appearance work, to act on a pro bono basis in a deserving case each year.
